Okay, let’s be real. Kids hikes aren’t going to do it for you every time. At some point, you just need to get away, get some fresh air and perspective, and really challenge yourself. And that’s ok.
As a parent, it can be really hard to make time for yourself and to do the things you want to do – like get outdoors. But it is not impossible. We’ll take a look at the most common barriers blocking you from exploring more, so we can then go about solving them.
Successfully adventuring with kids requires some planning, creativity, a change in mindset, a sense of humor, and snacks.

Why you should be fighting like hell to add some adventure to your life. Let me guess mama, you feel burnt out, a little stressed, and stuck in a rut of diapers, bedtimes, and dishes? You swear you used to be fun. But now you aren’t quite sure who you are. You want to live a full life, be happy, and be the best wife and mom that you can. Hell, maybe one day you might even manage to get it together long enough to banish the stubborn tummy pooch.
My early-20’s highlight reel includes scuba diving in Madagascar, putting together skeletons in Bosnia, and road-tripping through Baja.
Then in my late twenties, I started a Ph.D., found an awesome guy, and over the next 10 years we advanced our careers, bought a house, and had a kid.
